In 2014, during his 10 month experience in Africa, Alan together with a good friend of his, [[Andrew Camilleri]], started a small organisation called ‘Join hands for Africa Foundation’. The [[Join Hands for Africa Foundation]] is a non-profit, secular organisation, focused on starting and maintaining long term educational projects in East African countries. Their aim is to reach out to the many needs faced by both individual and communal educational entities, paving the way for a brighter future for everyone involved.

In 2018, Alan is participating for the first time at the festival [[L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2018]] with his song ''L-Immigrant'' which he co-wrote with [[Andrew Vella]].
