From 1978 to 1981, Don Carmelo was asked to go to San Giuseppe – in [[Pedara]] where he was assigned to teach English to the aspirants.

In 1981 Don Carmelo returned to Malta as Bursar at [[Savio College]], [[Dingli]]. In the years that followed he served as Rector at [[St. Patrick’s Salesian School]] in [[Sliema]] and was for some years responsible for the Junior section of the Salesian Oratory in Sliema.

Besides his priestly office, Fr. Carmelo also left a mark with his unusual talent of drawing ‘cartoons’ of countless ‘historic’ football goals both from the international scene and also goals from the local Premier Division.

He died on 16 January 2004 at the age of 73
