The Cathedral Chapter was well aware what translates Lorenzo, who was still young at 20 years. Thus encouraged Lorenzo to take his father's work. Although small refused to give up. Lodged an appeal to the Archbishop of that time [[Mgr. Gaetano Pace Fornu]] to occupy his father's place.

As Director of Bands in 1888 is found for the first time with the [[Għaqda Mużikali L'Isle Adam]] at [[Rabat]]. Dam directing to this band for five years. In year 1892 he was appointed headmaster and director of Banda De Rohan ran occupy this post until the year 1900. Żebbuġ native village, the Maestro Gatt was very loved from olives, especially by members of the Circolo Rohan and musicians. Bandmaster was also two military bands stationed in [[Mtarfa]].
