Vincenzo Carabott: Born in 1844, the son of Luiġi Carabott, a member of the Royal Theater Orchestra and founder of the Società Filarmonica Nazionale La Valette Band. Like his siblings Poalo and Ruggiero, he commenced his musical studies with his father Luigi and then under the tutorship of Mro Giuseppe Vella.

Vincenzo followed in the footsteps of his father and brother Ruggiero and joined the Royal Theater orchestra as a violinist (he also played the viola). Vincenzo Carabott, like his father and elder brother, branched into the local band sector where he was bandmaster of a number of bands such as Valletta’s La Valette (1889-1899); Naxxar’s Melita Band (1878 -1880), Soċjetà Filarmonika Leone A.D. 1863 (1893-1910), Soċjeta San Pawl Banda Konti Ruġġieru of Rabat (1898) and Każin San Ġużepp u Banda de Rohan of Żebbuġ (1900-1903).

Carabott was also the director of a number of orchestras such as the Eutrepe. In 1889 he led the La Valette band on its Tunisian tour where his musical abilities were much appreciated by the Bey of Tunis, who nominated Carabott as member in the order of Nicham Iftihir. Around May 1897, he was appointed bandmaster of the Filarmonica San Giorgio (Qormi) today knows as Għaqda Mużikali San Ġorg Martri

His first task was to lead this band on its tour in Syracuse. For that occasion, he composed the symphonic march Archimede. Other composition for band include the nocturns Popule Meus, Plange Quasi Virgo, Jerusalem Surge and Lazzarus Resurexit, the funeral marches A Mio Padre, A Mia Madre, A Mio Fratello Riggiero and Alla Memoria di Andrea Abela; and the Inni di Gloria a San Giorgio Martire and Maria Assunta (Rabat-Gozo).

In 1907, he left the Filarmonica San Giorgio, to help form a new band club in Qormi the Unione San Giorgio (later renamed Pinto). He served as band master of this band till his death in 1914.
